STARBUCKS GROUNDS FOR YOUR GARDEN
Spring is here and those who love to garden are overjoyed at the thought of starting their beautiful gardens. They are beginning to get their gardens planted and prepped and dreaming of the finished product.I myself am not a good gardener I have tried a few times in the past but I typically do not do well with maintaining a garden. In fact I have joked for years that I cannot keep a plant alive and sadly it is the truth. I will obviously keep my gardening tips at a minimum, since that is definitely not my area of expertise. I do not have a green thumb by any means, but I am great at helping you find deals on lots of things. Today's post is just that a suggestion on a small way that you can both recycle and stretch your gardening budget.
Starbucks offers a great way to recycle their used coffee grounds
Do you love to garden and need some extra fertilizer at a great price? Well I have an interesting fertilizer alternative for you. This fertilizer alternative is offered for free from many coffee shops. Yes, you heard me right I said coffee shops. The fertilizer I am referring to is actually used coffee grounds. You will actually find that many coffee shops willingly hand these over to their customers. Starbucks started a program back in 1995 called "grounds for your garden." You can call or stop by your local coffee shop for details on how this works. I have been told that some coffee shops do prefer for you to call ahead. If you choose to call ahead you will probably prevent having to wait as long. Just inquire when you call if they are participating in this program. Starbucks free coffee grounds are a great way to help stretch your gardening budget.
Coffee shops of all kinds may be willing to save you their coffee grounds
I have seen many coffee shops other than Starbucks that are also willing to save these for their customers. If you make your own coffee at home or even at work you can save them yourself as well. If you are not one to spend at coffee shops saving them yourself is a great budget friendly alternative. Another coffee shop that gladly will accommodate free coffee grounds for your garden is Biggby Coffee. If you live close to a Biggby Coffee shop you can also call or stop by and ask.
What are coffee grounds beneficial for in gardening?
I have heard that coffee grounds are good for both fertilizer and also for mulch and can also work as a natural pesticide in some cases as well. Checkout this great post I discovered with more tips on the benefits of using coffee grounds for gardening.

Gardening can be an awesome way to stretch your budget. Fresh produce can be grown at a fraction of the price you would pay at the stores. It is also far healthier because it can be grown more naturally and you control what goes into the growing of your own plants. Your investment of time and preparation can really be rewarding at the end of the season.
