January is here and 2024 is finally upon us. Many of you probably have some resolutions or goals that you have set for your new year. I have one that I have also made for 2024 and it is to once again return to writing more consistently on the blog. It has been a while since I have been able to write on the blog consistently but I am setting a goal for this to change in 2024. Here is what you can expect in 2024 here at SavingJoyfully.com

A new beginning and encouragement for your journey
As we begin this year I am feeling positive that it is time to begin once again sharing my financial journey. I know that many people are struggling in their financial lives right now and need some guidance and I believe my story can help make a difference. When I began my blog in 2018 I was still in a very tough place financially. My husband and I were navigating married life with credit card debt, car payments & large amounts of student loans. At the time we had no children and I wrote often sharing about my journey & what I had learned along the way. We worked hard, saved money, paid down debt & often felt we would never see an end to the massive debt that weighed us down.
Fast forward to where I am today and my life is very different but in a good way. Keep going friends because even when the financial situation looks dark and hopeless it never is hopeless. The very best place to be is trusting that God is in control and surrendering your financial life to Him. I can testify that over the past few years of my life I have seen miracles with my finances thanks to a loving and faithful God. I am now mostly debt free, no remaining student loans, no credit card balances except for the cards I use to earn points, miles or hotel stays & only one car loan. God has been so faithful as I surrendered to Him my finances, began tithing faithfully & committed to paying down my debt He made a way for me to finally experience financial freedom far before I ever thought I would. Sometimes I forget how far I have come but I never want to forget. In fact I really want to help each of you to realize you are not alone but to recognize that God wants to restore your financial life. My prayer is that moving forward you can live your financial lives fully surrendered to His will for you. We are never meant to be slaves to debt we are to live as children of God only in debt to our Savior. The bible tells us:
Proverbs 22: 7 The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.
It is good to keep in mind that whatever we are a slave to controls us and when we are controlled by something it is harder to remember that God is in control and that He is all we need. It is better to trust Him with our finances & pay down our debt faithfully committing everything to Him. Far better than relying upon wealth & the stability we believe it provides because it will always fail us. A life committed to Christ and faith in His provision is one of greater wealth than anything else we can ever experience. I will continue in 2024 to encourage you to commit your financial life to God. I am believing by faith that He will provide for all of your needs. If you need a miracle with your finances know that my God is a God of miracles and I pray today for your financial & spiritual life in 2024.

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for all that you have blessed each of us with today. From the simple blessings of family, friendships, food, shelter and the finances to cover our many bills. I ask today Lord that you will bless each person who reads this post and that you will begin an amazing work in their life today. Draw them closer to you this year and I ask that you will make yourself known to each of them in a unique way today. Bless them to be a blessing and guide their financial life this year as you work your will in each of their lives. Help them to completely surrender not only their finances but their entire lives to you. As they surrender Lord I pray for debt freedom to be a possibility for each of them going forward so that they will be able to be indebted to you alone for all that you have done for them. In Jesus name Amen
